HOW TO CONNECT YOUR SOLAR PANELS IN SERIES
When connecting multiple solar panels in an off-grid system, you have options to choose from which is either parallel or series connection or a combination of the two.
In this article, we would be discussing briefly on the basics of connecting your solar panels in series.
When wiring Solar panels in a series connection, the voltage is addictive, but the amperage remains the same. e.g if you have 4 panels in a series connection and each was rated at 12 Volts and 5 amps. The entire array will be 48 Volts 5 amps.
Steps on how to connect your solar panels in series
1. Connect the positive terminal of the first solar panel to the negative terminal of the next one.
2. Repeat step 1 for second Solar panel to the third solar panel and same for third Solar panel to the fourth Solar panel.
3. Then connect the negative of the first Solar panel to the negative of the charge controller and also the positive of the last panel to the positive of the charge controller.
